Ashtanga Yoga
Breath-based yoga. Mindful movement. Intentional practice.
Sattva began as a place for Ashtanga practitioners here in York, PA. But what is Ashtanga Yoga? Ashtanga Yoga is a system of yoga established by T. Krishnamacharya designed to purify the body through breath and movement to bring stillness to the mind. It is a practice that can be approached with any body, as long as there is an intention to learn and a 1-month commitment to learning the practice. We have daily classes:
-
Tuesdays: Mysore 5am-8am
-
Wednesdays: Mysore 5am-7am
-
Thursdays: Mysore 5am-8am
-
Fridays: Mysore 5am-7am
-
Saturdays*: Led Primary 7am. (*For established practitioners only.)
You must be a monthly member to join these classes. OR you can attend our Mysore for Beginners classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7am-8am. Details below!
Mysore Class Hours EXTENDED: Enjoy an extra hour of Mysore | Now 5am- 8AM on Tuesdays and Thursdays
Mysore for Beginners Classes
Curious about Ashtanga but not quite ready to commit to a whole month of practice? Come to our twice-weekly Mysore for Beginners classes and see if Ashtanga feels like a good practice for you. What to expect: Megan will teach you a short portion of the Ashtanga practice 1-on-1 within a group setting--this is how we approach teaching Ashtanga yoga--adapting each pose of the practice for you and your body. You will learn some basic breathing, some basic movements, and you'll get to see what a Mysore class is all about. All bodies, all levels are welcome.
Ashtanga Membership at Sattva
Ashtanga requires a dedicated commitment to practice, meaning you are at Sattva roughly 3x/week to learn, integrate, and continue to grow in your practice. If you are serious about learning Ashtanga, you will need to pay a monthly tuition. Cost is $160/month. Sliding scale memberships are available for those that demonstrate financial need and are serious about learning.
