Intro to Qigong

September 14 & 21, 2025

11am-1pm

$95
Adults only

Qigong literally means "life energy cultivation." It is a holistic system of coordinated body posture and movement, breathing and meditation used for the purposes of Whole well-being of mind, body and spirit.
In this intro series, we begin with what is Qigong and why would you choose Qigong as a practice to enhance your life. You will even see how this practice is playful as we explore how to cultivate this life force energy within and around you. We take a look at the importance of learning that energy flows where attention goes. In this series we focus on breath practice, as well as move into learning about the three dantians (energy centers of the body), postures, principles, stances, movements, meditation, and how all of this contributes to living into the relaxation, mindfulness and centeredness that the practice of Qigong provides, which in turn opens us up to so much more of our world.

Qigong is a gentle, slow-movement practice intended for us to enter a more natural "flow state".  It is an ancient practice used for thousands of years to open and expand awareness, increase energy, and awaken and enhance the natural energy system as a whole. This practice offers us the intention to slow down in order to notice and feel into our bodies and energies to find a connection to more optimal health and living.

This series of classes is a wonderful opportunity to begin your exploration of this life enhancing practice. Completion of this intro series also opens up the options for monthly membership and ongoing Qigong classes at Sattva Yoga York.

Monthly, 2nd Sunday of Each Month
11am-11:30am

Pay what you are able (suggested $10)

Meditation is a key component of Qigong, along with movement and healing sounds, that contributes to whole body wellness.  This ½ hour monthly meditation class, sometimes seated and sometimes a standing moving meditation, is an invitation to experience this aspect of Qigong, and perhaps will inspire you to explore more of the experience of Qigong.  Even most standing movements, however, can be experienced while seated.  This class is also an opportunity to meet members of the Sattva Yoga York Qigong 4 Well-Being community, and talk with them about their ongoing Qigong experiences.
